The Dope Show

Spike Lee is hitting us with a new joint that’s a bit more far left than what he’s used to. Stepping into an eerier, bloodier territory, the controversial director gives a creepy blaxploitation horror flick a revamp with Da Sweet Blood of Jesus.

The plot is centered around the events that ensue after an anthropologist is stabbed with a cursed ancient dagger which ignites a thirst for human blood. He’s not a vampire or zombie, but the blood addiction is certainly real as he takes on a lover and introduces her to his dark new world.

Da Sweet Blood of Jesus doesn’t hit theaters or iTunes until February 13th, but you can view it early via video-on-demand for a small fee. Until then, peep the trailer below and try to wrap your mind around this intriguing tale of love, lust, betrayal, and a whole lotta blood.
